This is Chris’ first and last year teaching at Talley Middle School in Wilmington, DE.  Prior to this school year, Chris worked at North East Middle School in North East, MD, for five years.  It’s a good thing Chris worked in North East or else we probably wouldn’t have met at the YMCA.  The working conditions were getting pretty tough at North East and so Chris decided to find greener pastures; thus ending up in Wilmington.  This happened before we knew about Corning.  The first year in a new school for a teacher is no easy feat.  New people, new schedules, new classroom, new curriculum and new lesson plans.  Chris has been a champ, keeping up with all of the added work this school year albeit very stressful.  As it turns out, the greener pastures weren’t that much greener.  This might be Chris’ last year in K-12 education.  Guess we will have to see what opportunities lie in the Chemung Valley.

Outside of teaching, Chris is an avid scrapbooker.  (She’s a “scrapper”)  I’m convinced that some day our basement will rival any stamp store.  Chris has two favorite places on Earth.  The first is anywhere outside the United States.  I say that jokingly, because Chris loves to travel; the majority of which is abroad.  This calendar year alone, Chris will have been to: the US Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, France, China, Italy, Greece and maybe Turkey.  Chris also has the goal of visiting all seven continents... yes, including Antarctica.  Interested in seeing penguins and whales?  Let us know.

Chris’ other favorite place is the Keuka lake.  Spend a weekend there sometime and you’ll understand.  Beautiful sunsets with purple water; some evenings the water is so calm, it looks like glass.  There’s cookouts, swimming, and water skiing!  Chris is an excellent water ski instructor.  The whole lake is surrounded by vineyards and wineries.  She doesn’t like to drink, but the fresh grapes are amazing and Bully Hill makes a mean grape juice.

Chris also loves to play a card game called, Nerts.  I’m still trying to figure it out... it’s like speed crossed with Solitaire.  It’s very quick and involves multitasking.  Both of which are qualities I am lacking... did I mention Chris is great at multitasking?

If you haven’t met Chris, you soon will.  Chris is full of energy and a fun person to be with.  After meeting Chris, she undoubtedly will ask, “Wanna play?”  The correct answer is of course, “yes!”
